Pelargonium Flower Break Virus (PFBV) - DAS ELISA                          Home    Products    Testing Services   Supplies

Catalog #:  V037
Source Antibody:  Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:  DAS ELISA

Reactivity:  This test system reacted with all of the isolates of PFBV tested.  Reaction of the ELISA is relatively strong.  Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 0.900 - 2.200 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is relatively high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:810.

Specificity:  There is no obvious cross reaction found with healthy geranium tissues.  Background is relatively low on the negative control wells.

Application:  The test can be used to detect PFBV in infected geranium plants.

Virus Infection:
Pelargonium flower break virus (PFBV) occurs widely in cultivated geraniums and are usually symptomless. Symptoms appearance in infected plants is greatly affected by various environmental factors. As the name of the virus suggests, main symptom of PFBV infection is color breaking on the flowers.  However, symptom of leaf chlorosis is also observed in some plants known to be infected with PFBV.
