Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: This test system reacted with all of the isolates of ORSV tested. Reaction of the ELISA is super strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 2.600 - >3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is super high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:2430 - 1:7290.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction found with healthy orchid plant tissues. Background is low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect ORSV in infected orchid plants.

Virus Infection: Odontoglossum Ringspot Virus (ORSV) is the virus
commonly found in cultivated orchids. ORSV is easily transmitted by mechanical
inoculation, and is naturally spread through orchid collections via contact with
contaminated hands, tools or container. The infected orchids frequently
show severe symptoms, and lose their commercial value.
