Reactivity: This test reacted with all isolates of INSV tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 1.600 - >3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:2430.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction found with healthy plant tissues. Background is very low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect INSV in infected host plants.

Virus Infection: Impatiens necrotic spot virus (INSV) is a member of the tospoviruses group and is one of the most important plant viruses. INSV is naturally transmitted by thrips and most commonly found in many ornamental crops. Typical symptoms of INSV infection are chlorotic or necrotic spot and chlorotic or necrotic ring spot. Other symptoms are various, depending upon the crop infected.
