Catalog #: V227
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: This test system reacted with all
WDV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is relative strong. Optical Density at 405nm
is in a range of 0.850 - 2.260 depending on the virus titer in the
samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is relative high. The
virus can be consistently detected in infected plant leaf tissues diluted at
1:270 - 810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant
tissues. Background is low on the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect WDV in infected
host plans.

Information About the Virus
Name: Wheat Dwarf Monogeminivirus
Acronym: WDV
Synonyms:
Viral Family: Geminiviridae
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Psammotettix alienus;
Cicadellidae. Not transmitted by Javesella pellucida, Laodelphax striatellus,
Macrosteles laevis. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus retained when
the vector moults; does not multiply in the vector; not transmitted congenitally
to the progeny of the vector.
Transmission: Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted
by pollen.
Main natural host plants and symptoms: Virus infect barley and
wheat. Symptoms include yellowing and dwarfing. Symptoms persist. .
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Avena sativa
- yellowing and dwarfing; Bromus secalinus - yellowing, plants die
prematurely; Hordeum vulgare - dwarfing, poor heads and yellowing.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in
Bulgaria, the former Czechoslovakia, France, Hungary, and the former USSR.
Found, but with no evidence of spread, in Sweden.
