Catalog #:  V182
Source Antibody:  Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:  DAS ELISA

Reactivity:  The test reacted with all WClMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong.  Optical Density at 405nm  is in arrange of 0.800 - 2.700 depending  on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted  at 1:810.

Specificity:  There is no cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues such as rice and other host plants. Background is relative low on all of  the negative control wells.

Application:  The test can be used to detect WClMV in infected host plants.

Information About the Virus

Name:  White Clover Mosaic Virus
Acronym:  WClMV
Synonyms: clover mosaic virus, pea wilt virus (Bos et al., 1959; Johnson, 1942)
Group/Genus:  Potexvirus

Vector:
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by contact between plants; transmitted by seed (to 6% in Trifolium pratense).
Main host plants: Trifolium spp.

Virus Infection:  Cause symptoms of chlorotic mottling, streaking and systemic mosaic.  Symptoms vary seasonally.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms:
Cucumis sativus - necrotic local lesions; Phaseolus vulgaris - necrotic and chlorotic local lesions, systemic yellowing; Pisum sativum - chlorotic local lesions, leaf shape malformation; Trifolium spp. - systemic mosaic.

Geographical distribution: Probably distributed worldwide (in temperate regions).
