Catalog #: V181
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all RRSV isolates tested.
Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm
is in arrange of 0.700 - 2.600 depending
on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high.
The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted
at 1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross
reaction with healthy plant tissues such as rice and other host
plants. Background is
relative low on all of the
negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect RRSV in infected
host plants.

Information About the Virus
Name: Rice Ragged Stunt Virus
Acronym: RRSV
Synonyms: rice infectious gall virus
Group/Genus: Oryzavirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Nilaparvata lugens;
Delphacidae. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus retained when the vector
moults; multiplies in the vector; not transmitted congenitally to the progeny of
the vector; does not require a helper virus for vector transmission.
Transmission: Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted
by pollen.
Main host plants: Oryza latifolia, O. nivara, O. sativa.
Virus Infection: Cause symptoms of stunting, enations on veins of
leaves and leaf sheaths, ragged leaves, flower suppression.
Symptoms persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Oryza sativa cv.
Taichung Native (TN-1) - pale spindle-shaped enations on abaxial surfaces of
leaves and leaf sheaths, twisted and ragged leaves, dark green colour,
suppressed flowering, infected plants remain green and appear grassy after
healthy plants have senesced.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in
Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri
Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand.
