Catalog #: V146
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all PeSV isolates tested.
Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm
is in arrange of 0.800 - >2.200 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high.
The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted
at 1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant
tissues such as pea, bean, cowpea or other host plants. Background is
low on all of the
negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect PeSV in infected
pea, bean and other infected host plant tissues.

Information About the Virus
Name: Peas Streak Virus
Acronym: PeSV
Synonyms: alfalfa latent virus, Steinklee Virus, Wisconsin pea streak
virus, probably pea streak New Zealand virus (Bos, 1964; Chamberlain, 1954).
Group/Genus: Carlavirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Acyrthosiphon pisum;
Aphididae. Transmitted in a non-persistent manner.
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted
by pollen.
Main natural host plants: Medicago sativa, Pisum sativum.
Virus Infection: Symptoms by viral infection include
necrotic lesions or streaks. Symptoms persist, or disappear soon after infection
(in the glasshouse).
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Pisum sativum
- inoculated leaves symptomless, systemic necrosis, vein banding, reddening.;
Vicia faba cv. Bell - necrotic local lesions, then systemic necrosis,
necrotic spots and streaks; Cassia occidentalis - necrotic or chlorotic
local lesions only.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in the
Eurasian region; Canada and the USA.
