Reactivity:  The test reacted with all MWLMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong.  Optical Density at 405_nm  is in arrange of 1.100 - >3.000 depending  on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:2430.

Specificity:  There is no cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues such as corn and wheat. Background is very low on all of  the negative control wells.

Application:  The test can be used to detect MWLMV in infected host plants.

Transmission: Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted by pollen.
Main host plants:  Zea mays, Digitaria sanguinalis, Panicum dichotomiflorum, Setaria faberi, S. viridis

Virus Infection:  Cause symptoms of mottle, mosaic and characteristic chlorotic white lines, small ears with few or no kernels. Symptoms persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Zea mays - mottle, mosaic, discrete chlorotic white lines, stunting.

Geographical distribution: Spreads in France, Italy, and the USA.
