Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all CerCMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 0.650 - >2.850 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues such as cereal corps or other host plants. Background is low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect CerCMV in infected host plants.

Information About the Virus
Name: Cereal Chlorotic Mottle Virus
Acronym: CerCMV
Synonyms:
Group/Genus: Nucleorhabdovirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Nesoclutha pallida,
Cicadula bimaculata, Cicadulina bipunctata ssp. bipunctella;
Cicadellidae. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus retained when the vector
moults; multiplies in the vector; not transmitted congenitally to the progeny of
the vector.
Transmission: Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by seed.
Main natural host plants: Avena sativa, Digitaria ciliaris, Dinebra
retroflexa, Echinochloa colona, Hordeum vulgare, Leptochloa filiformis, Setaria
verticillata, Triticum aestivum, Urochloa panicoides, Zea mays.
Virus Infection: Symptoms include hlorotic streaking, variable
stunting and sterility. Symptoms persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Dinebra
retroflexa - chlorotic streaking; Leptochloa filiformis - chlorotic
and necrotic streaking; Triticum spp. and × Triticosecale -
chlorotic streaking; Zea mays - chlorotic streaks, but cvs differ in
susceptibility.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in Australia and Morocco.
