Test Format: TAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test detects all known isolates of CYDV-rpv. Reaction of the ELISA is relatively strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 1.000 - 2.200 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderately high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270 - 1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues such as barley, oats and wheat. Background is low on the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect CYDV-rpv in infected barley, wheat and oats.

Vector: Aphid
Transmission:
Main host plants: Barley, wheat, oats, and many grasses.
Virus Infection: Barley yellow dwarf virus-rpv has isometric particles which contain RNA genome. Virus is transmitted by the aphid, M. avenae in the persistent manner, but not transmitted by mechanical inoculation or by seed. It infects cereal crops such as barley, wheat, and oats worldwide.
CYDV-rpv belongs to CYDV group II which also includes rmv and rice giallume virus or rgv
