Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and

Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all BeMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 0.790 - 2.850 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270-810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues. Background is relative low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect BeMV in infected host plants.

Name: Belladonna Mottle Tymovirus
Acronym: BeMV
Synonyms: Tollkirschenscheckungs virus
Viral Family: Tymoviridae
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Epithrix atropae (Jankulova
et al., 1968); Coleoptera. Not transmitted by aphids.
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not
transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed.
Main natural host plants: Atropa belladonna.
Virus Infection: Causes mottling, distortion. Symptoms
persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Chenopodium quinoa
- local lesions, not systemic; Datura stramonium - necrotic local
lesions, mosaic; Nicotiana tabacum - ring local lesions, vein clearing,
mosaic.
