Catalog #: V152
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all BSSV isolates tested.
Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm
is in arrange of 0.600 - >2.300 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high.
The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted
at 1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant
tissues such as blueberry, or other host plants. Background is
relative low on all of the
negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect BSSV in infected
host plant tissues.

Acronym: BSSV
Synonyms:
Group/Genus: Sobemovirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Masonaphis pepperi;
Aphididae. Transmitted in a semi-persistent manner (probably). Virus not
transmitted congenitally to the progeny of the vector.
Transmission: Transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by
grafting; not transmitted by contact between plants; not transmitted by seed;
not transmitted by pollen.
Main natural host plants: Vaccinium corymbosum, V.
angustifolium.
Virus Infection: Symptoms by viral infection include
"shoestring" disease; reddish streaks on stems, narrow strap-like leaves,
occasional flower-breaking, severe yield reduction. Symptoms persist and vary
seasonally.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Vaccinium
spp. - oak leaf pattern on leaves malformed shoestring leaves, red streaks on
stems; blossoms pink.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in the USA
