Barley Stripe Mosaic Virus (BSMV) - TAS ELISA Home Products Testing Services Supplies Contact Us
Catalog #: V193
Source Antibody: A rabbit polyclonal antibody for capture
and a monoclonal antibody as detection.
Test Format: TAS ELISA
Reactivity: Reaction of the ELISA is
very strong. Optical Density at 405nm
is in a range of 2.300 - >3.000 for leaf samples and 0.600 - 2.500 for
seed samples, depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:2430 for leaf samples and 1:90-1:270 for seed samples. This ELISA can be used to efficiently detect BSMV in plant seeds..
Specificity: This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues such as carnation and other host plants. Background is very low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect BSMV in any common host plants including seeds.

Acronym: BSMV
Synonyms: barley false stripe virus, possibly barley yellow
stripe virus, barley mild stripe virus, oat stripe mosaic virus.
Group/Genus: Hordeiviruses
Vector: Transmitted by means not involving a vector.
Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by
seed (up to 90-100%); transmitted by pollen to the pollinated plant.
Main natural host plants: Hordeum vulgare, Triticum aestivum
Virus Infection: Symptoms persist. Mild stripe mosaic to lethal
necrosis.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Hordeum vulgare,
Triticum aestivum, Avena sativa - systemic stripe mosaic. Chenopodium
amaranticolor, C. quinoa, C. album - large chlorotic local lesions; not
systemic. Beta vulgaris - chlorotic local lesions; not systemic. Zea
mays - systemic stripe mosaic. Spinacia oleracea - systemic mosaic.
Nicotiana tabacum cv. Samsun - local chlorotic lesions; not systemic.
