Source Antibody:  Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:  DAS ELISA                                   

Reactivity:  This test system reacted with all virus isolates tested.  Reaction of the ELISA is moderate.  Optical Density at 405_nm  is in arrange of 0.800 - 1.200 depending  on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is relatively high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted  at 1:810.

Specificity:  There is no obvious cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues.  Background is low on the negative control wells including healthy plant sample and buffer.

Application:  The test can be used to detect BRMV in infected host plants.

Transmission: mechanical transmission, but not by seeds.
Main host plants:  Phaseolus vulgaris

Virus Infection:  cause persistent symptoms, such as evere mosaic, mottling, malformation of leaves and pods (type strain); or severe stunting and blistering of leaves (Ampollado strain); or symmetric mosaic patterns on leaves.
