Source Antibody: A rabbit polyclonal antibody (DSMZ AS-0141) for both capture and
detection.
Test Format: DAS ELISA
Reactivity: The test reacted with all BGMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is moderate strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in arrange of 0.700 - >1.900 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is moderate high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270 -1:810.
Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues such as bean or other host plants. Background is low on all of the negative control wells.
Application: The test can be used to detect BGMV in infected bean and other infected host plant tissues.

Information About the Virus
Name: Bean Golden Mosaic Virus
Acronym: BGMV
Synonyms: virus del mosaico dorado
Group/Genus: Bigeminivirus
Vector: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Bemisia tabaci (Sida
race); Aleyrodidae. Transmitted in a persistent manner. Virus retained when the
vector moults; does not multiply in the vector; not transmitted congenitally to
the progeny of the vector.
Transmission: Some isolates transmitted by mechanical inoculation;
transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by contact between plants; not
transmitted by seed; not transmitted by pollen.
Main natural host plants: Macroptilium lathyroides, Phaseolus
vulgaris, P. lunatus, Malvastrum coromandelianum.
Virus Infection: Symptoms caused by viral infection include
vein yellow net, interveinal chlorosis. Symptoms persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Phaseolus
vulgaris cv. Top Crop, Phaseolus lunatus - systemic vein chlorosis,
golden mosaic.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.
