Catalog #:  V056
Source Antibody:  Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and detection.
Test Format:  DAS ELISA

Reactivity:  Reaction of the ELISA is very strong.  Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 1.600 - 3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

Sensitivity:  Sensitivity of the ELISA is relatively high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:270 - 1:810.

Specificity:  This test system does cross-react with eggplant mosaic virus.  There is no cross reaction with healthy potato plant tissues. Background is very low on all of the negative control wells.

Information About the Virus

Name: Potato Andean latent Virus
Acronym:  APLV
Synonyms: Eggplant mosaic virus, tomato white necrosis virus, abelia latent virus
Group/Genus:  Tymoviruses

Vector: Flea beetle
Transmission: Plant sap
Main host plants: Potato

Virus Infection: Potato andean latent virus (APLV) is a strain of eggplant mosaic virus. The virus is most commonly transmitted by the flea beetle.  APLV can also be transmitted through plant-to-plant contact, by vegetative propagation and by true potato seed. In South America, APLV infects wild relatives of potato which show mild symptoms or no symptoms.  It can cause potato diseases when these plants are used in a breeding program.
