Catalog #: VS10
Source Antibody: Rabbit polyclonal antibody for both capture and
detection.
Test Format:
Reactivity: Reaction of the ELISA is moderately strong. Optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 0.700 - 1.900 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.
Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is relative high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted at 1:810 - 1:2430.
Specificity: This test system has no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues tested. Background is very low on the negative control wells.

Information About the Virus
Name: Beet Yellows Closterovirus
Acronym: BYV
Genus: Closterovirus
Synonyms: sugarbeet yellows closterovirus.
Strains: strains of differing pathogenicity are known to exist.
Transmission: Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Myzus persicae,
Aphis fabae; Aphididae. Not transmitted by Rhopalosiphum padi,
Macrosiphum (Sitobion) avenae. Transmitted in a semi-persistent manner.
Virus lost by the vector when it moults; does not multiply in the vector; not
transmitted congenitally to the progeny of the vector; transmitted by mechanical
inoculation (with difficulty); transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by
contact between plants; not transmitted by seed; not transmitted by pollen.
Geographical Distribution: Probably distributed
worldwide (wherever Beta vulgaris is grown). Spreads in China.
Diagnostically Susceptible Species and Symptoms: Tetragonia
tetragonioides - stunting, vein clearing, yellowing. Montia perfoliata
- necrotic spots, reddening and yellowing of older leaves.
